FX Webinars Weekly Overview – March 8–12

Considering this past week, the USD continued the recovery against most pairs, mainly due to the rise in the treasury yield, with the 10-year yield reaching the highest 1 year level, and rising already 213% YTD. This is was supported by the hawkish comment of Jerome Powell this last week in Congress, in which he said the Fed is still comfortable with current levels of the yields, which is more a sign of confidence in the economy than inflation.

This coming week, we’re probably continue to see the rise of the USD against all other pairs. This week the ECB will meet to decide the future monetary policy, but it will most likely keep interest rates unchanged, just focusing in buying more bonds, in order to keep helping the Eurozone economy. Regarding the GBP, this week last week could have been the reversal of the trend of gains against the USD, which despite recovering 1,24% YTD, it lost 0,64%, just this week alone, also due to the rise in the U.S. treasury yields, thus it will be important the GDP figures of this week.
